Merry meet,

I am Lizzy. A thirty something wife, mum, interior design graduate, qualified primary school teacher and general all round creative. I am also a Pagan witch. I am fortunate enough to live in a village in the heart of the English countryside surrounded by nature and wildlife (Hence the inspiration for the name of this site).

To me, being a pagan is not just a title or religious preference. It is a way of life. It is at the centre of my very being and everything that I do (be it in thought, word or deed) is inspired by my key spiritual beliefs and values. Central to this is the rule, “An’ it harm none, do what ye will”. I am not going to go too much into it here (There are lots of differing interpretations), but essentially, I always strive to be the best person I can be by keeping my intentions as pure, honest and kind as possible. When Pagans meet up, we often state that we meet in ‘perfect love, and perfect trust’. This is an ideal which we know as humans is hard to live up to, but we strive to anyway.

Essentially I believe that anyone can call themselves ‘Pagan’, no matter what religion they follow. This might be controversial, but the word ‘pagan’ comes from the Latin word ‘paganus’ which simply means ‘country dweller’. So anyone who lives or frequents the ‘country’ (take that as you will) or who has a reverence for nature, can call themselves ‘pagan’ whilst still following other forms of spirituality or religion. In my view, it is possible to be a Christian Pagan for instance. Despite my Christian upbringing, I no longer consider myself Christian and instead would describe myself as a solitary eclectic pagan witch. Whilst I have delved into a few different pagan paths and have been part of pagan communities, my religious views are a mixture of cultures and ideas, although mainly Celtic. I follow the ‘Wheel of the Year’ which is made up of eight sabbats (pagan festivals) and also observe the phases of the moon (esbats).

It is my hope that this space will help to support and inspire others to live a more pagan lifestyle and to develop a closer connection with nature. When I first discovered paganism over twenty years ago, I had no idea how much it would enrich my life. Following the cycles of nature has also helped me to develop a much more positive mindset and aided me through some very difficult periods on my journey.

Despite calling myself a pagan ‘witch’, formal rituals and spells are only a small part of my spiritual life. In fact, many of the mini routines that make up everyday life can be magical rituals if you set the right intentions. For that reason, a lot of what I share may just seem like normal everyday life to some, but dig a little deeper and there is magic to be found in the mundane.

So thank you for choosing to join me on this crazy journey called life. May we help one another and create a peaceful, harmonious community together.

Blessed be, Lizzy
